DON’T LOSE YOUR IDENTITY
Remember Who You Were Created to Be.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
— Genesis 1:27 (KJV)
Created in His Image
We were created in His image.
That means our identity wasn’t given to us by culture, society, social media, or the world. It was given to us by God.
I like to think of this as our original NIL deal…
Name.
Image.
Likeness.
- Pastor A -
Our assignment is not to give up who we are in Christ just to fit in with a world that was never meant to define us.
Read. That. Again.
Don’t sign up for things that were never meant for you.
Your steps are already ordered by the Lord.
As the psalmist declared:
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
— Psalm 139:14 (KJV)
DON’T LOSE YOUR IDENTITY
Check Your Reflection
If you’ve been following the world’s example and wondering why things aren’t working out…
Take a moment to examine the reflection you’re following.
Ask yourself:
-
Who does this present world look like?
-
Then ask an even more important question…
-
Who am I representing?
As believers, our lives should reflect the image of our Creator—not the image of the culture around us.
We must learn to adapt to living in this world without adopting its values, priorities, and identity as our own.
When we align ourselves with people, places, and things that don’t align with God’s purpose for our lives, we often end up frustrated, empty, and unhappy.
Even religion, culture, and traditions can shape us into something God never intended.
Notice I said religion—church religion.
Don’t allow religion to replace your relationship with Christ or become your identity.
Jesus said:
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
— John 4:24 (KJV)
DON’T LOSE YOUR IDENTITY
The Great Restoration
Sometimes life leaves us a little sullied, and this world tries to dull our shine.
But here’s the good news…
Jesus specializes in restoration!
We can pray like David:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10 (KJV)
He will clean us up.
He’ll give us a heart redo and a spiritual shampoo!
Then you’ll look in the mirror and say,
“Man… I still got it! Look at me!”
Because you’ll realize…
“I STILL LOOK LIKE MY FATHER!”
And you’ll walk away rejoicing.
Don’t Lose Your Identity
The world may change, culture may change, opinions may change.
However, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
— Hebrews 13:8
Remember who you are.
Grace and Peace
“Accountability”
Your peace is tied to whatever you’re accountable to.
JESUS' WORDS
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
John 15:18-19 (KJV)
Adapt but don’t Adopt.
We must learn to Adapt to the world and not Adopt their ways as our own.
“BE ACCOUNTABLE” TO THE WORD, NOT THE WORLD
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have
peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 (KJV)

Remain CLEAR, CALM and CONFIDENT
"Control what you can control"
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13 KJV

I've learned that when we get serious with God, God will get serious with us.
